Blue hair halloween pumpkin planter!

Blue hair pumpkin planter

Halloween is just around the corner, and while carved jack-o’-lanterns are a timeless classic, why not try something a little different this year? A pumpkin planter is a fantastic way to combine seasonal decor with a touch of greenery, creating a truly unique and eye-catching display. It’s surprisingly simple to make and can be a delightful project for gardeners, kids, and crafters alike.

Start by preparing your pumpkin, just like you would for carving. Pick one that feels sturdy and sits flat so it stays put. Cut a large opening at the top, making sure it’s wide enough for your plant. Scoop out all the seeds and stringy bits. This part gets messy, but it’s actually pretty fun.

Now pick your plant. If you want a fun “hair” look, try Festuca Glauca, also known as blue fescue grass. Its spiky leaves look just like a wild hairstyle and give your pumpkin a playful touch. Ornamental kales work well for a spooky, leafy feel, and small orange chrysanthemums add a pop of autumn colour. Just make sure the root ball fits inside your pumpkin.

Time to plant! Put some fresh peat-free potting mix in the bottom of your pumpkin. Take your plant out of its pot and set it inside. Add more potting mix around the roots and press gently to hold it in place. Water it well. If you like, paint a funny face to make it stand out. Set your pumpkin planter on a bench and enjoy your festive creation. It’s more than just a decoration—it’s a living piece of Halloween art.
