STEP 4

Out of the ground – the three D’s

They say that gardening is a conversation between the soil and the soul, but if you’ve read my book, The Easy-Care Garden, you know I prefer that conversation to be a relaxed one. I’m not a fan of shouting at my shrubs or wrestling with my weeds. I believe in a garden that gives more than it takes.

But even the most “easy-care” plot has a story to tell.

Starting this March (2026),  I’m launching Out of the ground to share the parts of the process that don’t always make it into a polished chapter. This is a space for the dirt—the literal mud on my boots and the honest mistakes made along the way. It’s for the dreams—the big visions of wild meadows and quiet corners that keep us planting season after season. And most importantly, it’s for the discoveries—those “Aha!” moments of finding an easier way or celebrating a small success.

Whether you are here to find a shortcut to a greener thumb or just to see what’s currently pushing its way through the topsoil, I’m glad you’ve dug in. Let’s see what comes up next.
